In the design of this laptop is nothing remarkable in comparison with the majority of today’s colorful and original gadgets. However, at the same time, it hides inside a quite productive processor Intel Core i3. It is a great achievement for a device of this price segment. Its performance is quite enough for executing everyday simple tasks. Considering the price of the gadget this feature makes it one of the best cheap laptops for now.
The approximate purchase price
You can buy the HP 250 G4 for £269.97 from Saveonlaptops, or for £249 from the online HP store.
HP 250 G4 has many variations. The model with 4GB of ram and 500GB HDD will be cheaper. A more expensive model with an Intel core i5 6200U and 128GB SSD you can find at Tesco Direct for £299. So, this is the best modification of this laptop.
Design and specifications
As we have seen in the design of this laptop is nothing outstanding. And this is not surprising. This gadget has been designed primarily for work, so the design is not significant.
The rounded shape of the laptop and a black and gray color scheme look modestly. But there are in its finish some bright details. It’s an embossed diamond logo on the lid and a dotted texture on the keyboard surrounds.
Very pleases the build quality of the laptop. Its parts do not bend under the pressure of a finger and do not scroop under compression. It is worth noting that this is not the most portable laptop. It weighs 2.14 kilograms. So, if you need a lighter gadget, try to search the laptop with a 13, 3-inch display.
This laptop has three USB ports (1x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0), an SD card slot, and Ethernet port and both VGA and HDMI video connectors.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The keyboard and trackpad are typical for HP low-end models. The standard chiclet keyboard equipped with a number block to the right side of the keys. Overall the keyboard is convenient enough but, unfortunately, there is no backlight.
The touchpad is made of rough plastic that is not very convenient. The trackpad also poorly thought out. The right button requires a much lighter press than the left one. So this is the main disappointments in this laptop.
Display & performance
This laptop has the normal display for this price segment. The 1366 x 768-pixel resolution provides poor brightness and color saturation, but it is not bad for that price.
A bit pleases the matte screen, thanks to which you can use a laptop near a bright window or other light sources.
The Intel Core i3 dual-core processor with a clock frequency of 2GHz and 8GB of RAM provide good performance and multitasking. This laptop works even with Photoshop program and almost noiseless in operation.
The battery capacity is enough for 5 hours viewing a video in high resolution. It is not bad for this price segment.
The sound quality is poor, especially if you do not use the Dolby DSP software.
If you need a simple, reliable and productive notebook for a small price, and you are not too demanding to image quality, then this gadget will suit you.
