How to watch The Grand Tour: When is The Grand Tour starting?

Some say Top Gear will never be the same without Clarkson, Hammond and May. Some say The Grand Tour will be the awesome auto show we know and love. In this article we explain how to watch The Grand Tour, plus how to get tickets for The Grand Tour and when The Grand Tour is starting.

Update 7 July: To celebrate Amazon Prime Day (see our Best Amazon Prime Day deals live blog) Amazon is allowing customers to enter a competition in which they could win a trip to attend a UK studio recording of The Grand Tour. The studio visit will take place in the autumn, and Amazon will handle the bill for your travel and accommodation and throw in £200 spending money. Enter before midnight on Prime Day (12 July) by completing the online entry form at amazon.co.uk/GTtickets.

When is The Grand Tour starting?

The first studio recording of The Grand Tour will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa on 17 July 2016. The presenters have signed up for 36 episodes spanning three years, which will be broadcast weekly from autumn 2016.

How to watch The Grand Tour

The Grand Tour is an Amazon exclusive, so to watch it (legally) you will need to be an Amazon Prime member. Signing up for Amazon’s Prime Instant Video streaming service will also net you more benefits, such as free one-day delivery on eligible items, Prime Photos for unlimited photo storage, Prime Music for unlimited music streaming and more. We’ve detailed these benefits in our complete guide to Amazon Prime.

If you’re interested in signing up for Amazon Prime only to watch The Grand Tour, however, we’d recommend signing up for a 30-day free trial and then continuing only if you like what you see (you can cancel at any time).

Amazon Prime will otherwise cost you £79 per year, which works out at £6.58 per month (cheaper than Netflix and with added benefits – see Netflix vs Amazon Prime).

Sign up to Amazon Prime here.

The alternative to watching The Grand Tour when it is broadcast is to watch it live – more details on that below. Also see: How to watch Amazon Prime video offline.

How to get tickets for The Grand Tour

The guys are switching things up a bit with their new series, and not only do they get to go on tour but so do the audience – in a giant tent.

Tickets will be released via prize draws during the summer, and you can enter now for a chance to win tickets to the first studio recording in Johannesburg. All you need to do is tweet a photo of an unusual place in which you’ve pitched a tent with the hashtag #TheGrandTourJoburg before 23:59 on 8 June 2016. The top 10 entries will be shortlisted by an Amazon Prime Video panel, and the final three winners will be selected by Clarkson, Hammond and May.

Should you win both you and a guest will get complimentary flights and transfers with travel insurance, three nights in a four-star hotel, tickets for The Grand Tour and $300 spending money.

Of course, Top Gear was really awesome with Clarkson, Hammond and May, but it will be quite good without them, so thanks for the article.
