How to share Amazon Prime with family & friends

Amazon Prime is the name Amazon gives to its £79 per year service that includes free one-day delivery and the Amazon Prime Instant Video TV streaming service that rivals Netflix. Amazon allows you to share that membership with one other adult and up to four children thanks to its Amazon Household feature – here’s how.

Now’s a great time to share your account, too, as Amazon Prime Day is coming up with hundreds of thousands of deals. Don’t miss: Amazon Prime Day Deals. Find out more about Amazon Prime in our Amazon Prime complete guide.

How to share Prime: Amazon Households

We’re assuming that you are the Amazon account-holder, that you’ve got Amazon Prime and that you’re here to find out how you can share that with one other adult and up to four children. It’s pretty simple to do and will help you make the most out of your membership fee, so it’s worth doing.

If you haven’t yet signed up to Amazon Prime you can start a 30-day trial. Find out more by clicking here. Once you’ve done so, continute reading to find out how to share it with others.

First, you’ll need to sign in to your Amazon account, and then click Your Prime at the top right of the page. There, choose Manage Prime Membership and scroll to the bottom of the page. You should see a button that reads: “Share your Prime benefits.”

Click that, and then click the blue word here within the information paragraph that appears.

You’ll now see the Manage Your Content and Devices page, and you should be on the Settings tab. Beneath the “Households and Family Library” header you’ll find the option to add an adult and add a child.

Click Add an Adult.

There you’ll need to enter the second adult’s Amazon account details, so their email address and password, and click ‘Verify Account.’

The second adult will then need to confirm that they want to share payment methods, Amazon content and services, Amazon Prime membership benefits and the management of child profiles by logging in to their account.

You can then click Create Household and set your content sharing settings. Finally, click Create Your Family Library to complete the process.

How to share Prime: What can you share?

The second adult using your Amazon Prime account will get access to many but not all benefits of Amazon Prime. They’ll get delivery benefits, Prime Video streaming (but not the option to download), Kindle Owners’ Lending Library and Amazon Family benefits.
